Brian Knowlton

Attorney

Attorney Brian Knowlton is deeply committed to helping families navigate some of the most difficult seasons of their lives and approaches every family lawcase with strength and empathy.  He strategically balances skilled courtroom advocacy in San Antonio and Austin divorce and child custody cases, with thoughtful use of mediation, collaborative law, and other alternative dispute resolution methods.

Invited by the Texas Senate to present on shared parenting and possession schedules, he believes the right approach depends on the family, the circumstances, and the long-term well-being of everyone involved — especially children. His goal is to create durable solutions that protect his clients’ futures.

A Fulbright Scholar Finalist, Brian was educated at several of the nation’s most respected institutions, including Chapman University, the University of Puget Sound, the University of Southern California, and St. Mary’s School of Law. His legal insights have been featured in nationally renowned legal publications, and he is a sought-after speaker who has presented complex legal topics to audiences across the country and internationally.

As both advocate and counselor, Brian brings versatility, creativity, and steady leadership to complex family law matters. He has a rare ability to identify the core issues in emotionally charged situations and guide clients toward decisive, strategic action. Families rely on him not only for his legal insight, but for his calm strength and clarity during uncertain times.

Although Brian has broad experience in business and multiple areas of law, his dedication to family law is deeply personal. After facing a challenging battle to protect his own parental rights, Brian made the intentional decision to focus his practice on helping other parents in San Antonio, Austin, and surrounding areas do the same. He is a proud father, and the hard-won success of maintaining a strong, loving relationship with his son fuels his passion for serving families who find themselves in family law struggles.
